Intel's Open-Source Linux Compute Stack Maturing Very Well For Arc Graphics
The next OpenCL benchmark, Hashcat, with the OpenCL driver headaches across vendors is one where Intel Arc Graphics on the Compute Runtime was running well along with the NVIDIA OpenCL driver but the AMD OpenCL setup on Ubuntu 23.04 was failing to run this password recovery tool. The Hashcat MD5 performance was better for the A750/A770 than both the RTX 2060 and RTX 3060.
On a performance-per-Watt basis the Arc Graphics DG2/Alchemist cards were comparable to the tested NVIDIA GPUs.
While on a performance-per-dollar basis the Arc Graphics A750 led.
For the SHA1 algorithm with Hashcat, the Intel Arc Graphics also led in raw performance and power efficiency.
At ~$249, the Arc Graphics A750 also led in performance-per-dollar.
SHA-512 is where the Arc Graphics performance receded compared to the NVIDIA GPUs tested.
The Arc Graphics also struggled with the 7-Zip Hashcat test.
Overall it was an interesting race with Hashcat between Arc Graphics and the NVIDIA GeForce GPUs on Linux.
