The last time an ASUS monitor was reviewed at Phoronix was a year and a half ago when checking out the ASUS VH236 monitor that ended up being a fairly nice 1920 x 1080 monitor with HDMI support. After recently needing to purchase another monitor, however, we decided to pickup the ASUS VE228H, which offers similar specifications but measures up to being a 21.5-inch LED-backlit display. Here are a few words on the ASUS VE228H LCD monitor after using it for a few weeks.

- 21.5-inch panel size
- 1920 x 1080 true resolution
- 0.248mm pixel pitch
- 250 cd/m2 maximum brightness
- 170 (H) / 160 (V) degrees viewing angle
- 5ms response time

The VE228H monitor was well packaged just like any ASUS product we have tested. The LED-backlit monitor was encased between two large Styrofoam molds. Included with the 21.5-inch monitor was the detachable stand, ASUS user's manual, audio cable, DVI-D cable, VGA D-Sub cable, and a US power cable. About the only other thing you may need for the monitor is an HDMI cable, which monitor manufacturers tend to not include at this point. This monitor is backed by ASUS with a three-year warranty.
