Chrome 75 vs. Firefox 67 / 68 Beta Linux Performance
JetStream was one of the few upsets where Firefox 68 did outperform Chrome. Firefox 67 was running just behind Chrome 75 but with a 7% increase was enough to unseat Chrome 75.
With the HTML5 CanvasMark, Chrome 75 won by a wide margin but at least Firefox 68 is inching closer.
MotionMark is the browser benchmark really benefiting from WebRender on Firefox 68 Beta where the performance has doubled. Unfortunately for Firefox, Chrome is still multiple times faster.
Speedometer also favored Chrome, but at least Firefox 68 slides in right between Firefox 67 and Chrome 75.
When looking at the geometric mean across these Linux browser benchmarks carried out, Firefox 68 Beta is shaping up to be 16% or so faster than the current stable Firefox 67.0. If enabling WebRender, that went up to 27%. But with even those gains, Chrome 75 still came out to 45% faster than that best performing Firefox configuration or 85% compared to the stock Firefox 67 experience.
