After being announced last month, I was able to find the Dynatron A38 quickly in stock at Internet retailers. I ended up picking up the Dynatron A38 for $49 USD from NewEgg.

Testing was done with the Dynatron A38 and compared to the earlier Dynatron A26 as well as being compared to a 4U-optimized Noctua NH-U9 TR4-SP3 heatsink with dual fans. All of the testing occurred within a Rosewill 4U chassis with three 120mm Noctua intake fans and three 80mm exhaust fans throughout all the testing for sufficient airflow for this AMD EPYC Milan server.

The AMD EPYC 7763 280 Watt 64 core / 128 thread CPU was running with the Supermicro H12SSL-i motherboard and 8 x 16GB DDR4-3200 memory and 3.8TB Micron 9300 NVMe SSD.

With each of the tested Socket SP3 coolers in this 4U AMD EPYC 7763 server a wide variety of workloads were run for 8+ hours during testing via the Phoronix Test Suite while it was monitoring the exposed CPU core temperature on a one second interval. The ambient room temperature was of course maintained during testing.

In total 106 benchmarks were run each time while monitoring the CPU core temperatures for the different CPU coolers.
