The Performance Of Clear Linux vs. Fedora vs. Ubuntu Over 2020

Fedora's SQLite performance and in select other I/O tests come in slower due to its switch to Btrfs by default in 2020.

Clear Linux did manage to squeeze more optimizations into its default PHP package over the past year.

Its Python 3 performance was also leading over Ubuntu and Fedora.

In the end there were 62 tests run at EOY2019 and EOY2020 on this Core i9 7980XE system across Ubuntu, Fedora, and Clear Linux. Clear Linux led overall in out-of-the-box Intel x86_64 Linux performance to little surprise. Clear Linux in these tests ended the year around 2.6% faster than where it began... With Ubuntu meanwhile the 2020 results were flat while the Fedora Workstation results show a drop in performance. Much of the lost performance in Fedora for 2020 stems from switching to the Btrfs file-system by default from EXT4 in the name of focusing on next-gen storage features.
