In the more common system benchmarks like code compilation, Node.js, and even molecular biology workloads, these are the approximate costs involved to the out-of-the-box mitigations on Linux 5.0.

Hackbench is Facebook's Linux kernel scheduler benchmark with the most severe impact being on the Core side.

Perl's performance was unchanged on the AMD side but the two tested Intel systems showed much better performance.

A number of the GNU C Library (Glibc) benchmarks are affected by the out-of-the-box Spectre/Meltdown mitigations.
