Everything You Need To Know About The NVIDIA Jetson TX1 Performance

Next up is a look at the OpenGL performance between the Jetson TK1 and Jetson TX1 when both were running the latest Linux 4 Tegra release and using the Ubuntu14.04 LTS sample file-system. These results are GFXBench with the Trex and Manhattan tests. The tests were done with both OpenGL and OpenGL ES, albeit there didn't end up being really any performance difference.

When preparing to run these tests, I anticipated the JTX1 doing very well thanks to the Maxwell GPU being a nice upgrade over Kepler, but I didn't expect the performance difference to be this dramatic! The Jetson TX1 was basically two to three times faster with its OpenGL performance compared to the generation-old Tegra K1.

Here's a look at the scaling for Manhattan test from 1024 x 768 through 3840 x 2160:

The frame-rates start out at just under 100 FPS and by the time of hitting 4K it's at 16 FPS.

The trex test of GFXBench is less demanding and here it starts out at 171 FPS and ends at 38 FPS when reaching 4K. Speaking of which, the Jetson TX1 has been working out great and during most of my testing was using a 4K display.
