AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT & RX 7700 XT Linux Performance
Given the focus of the Radeon RX 7700 XT / RX 7800 XT graphics cards, all of the testing for this article was done at 1440p. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and even Counter-Strike 2 can easily run on all of these graphics cards with ease at 1440p (and 4K). The RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT performance was coming in right where expected between the RX 7600 and RX 7900 series with the open-source upstream driver state at launch.
The new graphics cards weren't far behind the Radeon RX 7600 series in delivering the best value for this popular first person shooter game on Linux.
The RX 7700 XT could handle running F1 22 on Linux via Steam Play at 1440p ultra high settings while delivering a 154 FPS average, a 48% improvement over the RX 7600 while the Radeon RX 7800 XT came in with a 186 FPS average.
The Radeon RX 7600 was delivering the best value followed by the GeForce RTX 4060 and Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics cards based on the hardware I had available for today's review.
With the private Linux build of 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT graphics cards were coming inline with expectations.
The RX 7700/7800 series cards trailed the GeForce RTX 4060 in delivering the best performance-per-Watt for this particular benchmark.
On a performance-per-dollar basis, the Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT were closely aligned to the RX 7600 for delivering the best value of the RDNA3 series.
