Intel HD Graphics 630: Windows 10 Creators vs. Ubuntu 17.04 vs. Clear Linux
The Linux configurations tested were very close to Windows 10 Creators Update for the demanding Unigine Heaven demo.
With the demanding OpenGL Unigine Valley test case, the Clear Linux and Ubuntu results remained very close to the performance offered by the Windows 10 Creators Update.
Overall, these OpenGL Windows vs. Linux results are very nice for Kabylake and show that the performance is similar between both operating systems. Of course, only a few of the cross-platform, automated-friendly test cases were used but this is some of the closest Windows vs. Linux Intel HD Graphics results we have seen to date. It does show Intel's Mesa OpenGL driver is getting into good shape, but keep in mind many Linux game ports have their own performance challenges that hamper the Linux performance relative to Windows. Check out our Radeon and NVIDIA results this week for many more performance figures.
