XanMod defaults to no I/O scheduler on NVMe SSD storage, similar to the mainline kernel, while Liquorix opts for BFQ by default. As shown in the SQLite tests with eight threads, this appears to put Liquorix at a significant disadvantage while the XanMod results were similar to mainline.

With running libgav1 as the Google AV1 encoder, the XanMod kernel was performing significantly better than the generic Linux 5.4 kernel or the Liquorix spin. Then again, XanMod does pull in some Clear Linux patches and there we always tend to find it performing extremely well with video encode, so that's a possible explanation, among the other tuning and patches carried by this kernel downstream.

XanMod was also performing well on the AV1 video decoding front with dav1d.
