The Xonotic first person shooter game results varied a lot depending upon the image quality level. The Ubuntu Catalyst configuration began in the lead, but as the visual intensity increased, the Linux Catalyst driver was falling behind the Windows performance levels. Throughout all of the testing, the open-source Radeon graphics drivers were trailing the Catalyst performance numbers.

With the higher-quality image quality levels, the open-source RadeonSI Gallium3D driver wouldn't even run the game due to running into LLVM register allocation errors with the compiler infrastructure that's packaged for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
