Android O Developer Preview Released

The first public developer preview is now available for Google's upcoming Android "O" operating system.

Android O features improvements for battery life by enforcing automatic background limits on applications, notification channels is a new feature, platform support for autofill APIs, picture-in-picture display for phones/tablets, new windowing features, XML font resources, adaptive icons, wide-gamut color support for apps, LDAC Bluetooth audio codec support, improved keyboard navigation, AAudio as a new audio API for professional audio, WebView enhancements, Java 8 language APIs, and performance optimizations to the Android Runtime.

With some of the runtime improvements, some applications can see up to 2x performance improvements for select benchmarks. The improved keyboard navigation support also improves the viability of running Android on Chromebook or other larger form factor devices.
