DragonFlyBSD 4.8 Released With Performance Improvements, EFI Support & More

Today marks the release of the newest version of the BSD-based DragonFly operating system.

DragonFlyBSD 4.8 is now officially available and it features improved kernel performance, particularly around many-core and multi-socket systems. There were also improvements to namecache lookups, exec() improvements, and more.

DragonFlyBSD 4.8 also has support for eMMC booting, there's a new SMP-friendly NVMe SSD driver, and also initial EFI support.

For those making use of Intel graphics, its DRM driver now matches what was found in the Linux 4.6 mainline kernel tree. DragonFlyBSD 4.8 also now builds its kernel with the -O2 compiler optimization level.
