The Firefox 48 beta release is finally enabling Electrolysis (e10s) by default! Electrolysis for Firefox is the splitting of the UI and content (web pages) into separate processes. If no major issues crop up in the next six weeks, Firefox 48.0 will have Electrolysis enabled for providing a more responsive and optimized experience.
More details on the e10s plans for Firefox 48 can be found via Asa Dotzler's blog. Additional details on E10S can be found via this Firefox feature overview article written by our former intern, Eric Griffith.
