NVIDIA has launched their first beta driver in the 387 series for Linux.

The 387.12 beta Linux driver was just announced as their newest feature release. While ushering in a new driver series, this 387.12 release is mostly comprised of Vulkan updates and fixes.

The notable Vulkan work in the 387.12 beta driver is the full-screen flipping using X11 swapchains that has the potential for performance improvements of fullscreen Linux Vulkan games.

Some of the minor feature work includes support for YUV 4:2:0 compression via DisplayPort, frame-buffer console hotplug handling within the nvidia-modeset driver, better tiled monitor handling, and other minor updates.

There are many fixes throughout ranging from NVIDIA Settings problems to display/connector problems to NVIDIA kernel module issues.
