The first development release of the next quarterly feature update to the Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software is now available.

Milestone 1 of Phoronix Test Suite 7.6-Alvdal is now available for your open-source, cross-platform benchmark testing. So far this cycle there has been a lot of software/hardware detection improvements within Phodevi (the Phoronix Device Interface), MidnightBSD package handling has been contributed, improved IP/MAC detection, and better wake-on-LAN handling in the context of Phoromatic. There's also been some smaller Phoromatic-focused improvements too.

Phodevi improvements in 7.6 Milestone 1 includes a new memory.temp sensor for reporting the DIMM temperatures on supported systems, fixes for Zen CPU temperature reporting, IPMI ambient temperature reporting, various CPU/GPU temperature reporting improvements, Bcache reporting, proper APFS Apple File-System detection, various other tweaks for macOS High Sierra, and other improvements.

Phoronix Test Suite 7.6-Alvdal will be officially released later this quarter with at least two more development releases expected prior to that quarterly update. Phoronix Test Suite 7.6 M1 is available from GitHub.
