For those running on RHEL6, Red Hat today announced the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.9 features new hardware support backported to its kernel, updates to TLS 1.2, broader support for PCI-DSS, and there is now a RHEL 6.9 container image for cloud-native application development.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 is entering Production Phase 3 in May, which means only RHEL6 will be updated going forward for major security fixes and other urgent issues.
