Intel developer Jason Ekstrand posted a patch over the weekend for enabling MSAA compression support within the ANV Vulkan driver.

Ekstrand commented on the ANV performance impact of introducing multi-sample anti-aliasing compression, "This just enables basic MSAA compression (no fast clears) for all multisampled surfaces. This improves the framerate of the Sascha 'multisampling' demo by 76% on my Sky Lake laptop. Running Talos on medium settings with 8x MSAA, this improves the framerate in the benchmark by 80%."

Great to see the significant performance boosts when using multi-sample anti-aliasing with Vulkan on the Intel driver. MSAA fast clears should also help with the performance once supported. The MSAA compression patch can be found on Mesa-dev for now but will hopefully hit Git master for Mesa 17.1 in short order.
