Earlier this week was the X.Org Server 1.19 release as a major update with development going on for one year. Now, X.Org Server 1.20 development is open.

Keith Packard today officially opened up post-1.19 development with the celebratory version bump.

The codename for this new development milestone is Shrimp-and-grits with KeithP continuing in his peculiar codenames.

No release schedule has been discussed yet for 1.20. In recent years the xorg-server had been on a six month release cadence but with development slowing up a bit lately, xorg-server 1.19 took one year to emerge.

What do you hope this next X.Org Server release holds in store? XWayland improvements, continued work on xf86-video-modesetting, and better GLAMOR support are safe bets for seeing improved in the months ahead.
