GNOME Shell 3.23.1 Adds The Discrete GPU Launch Option, Other UI Improvements
Trailing this weekend's release of GNOME 3.23.1 is the first development update for the GNOME Shell in the road to GNOME 3.24.
GNOME Shell 3.23.1 introduces the new discrete GPU launch option for dual GPU / Optimus systems, assuming you are launching your games / OpenGL workloads through GNOME rather than say Steam.
GNOME Shell 3.23.1 also now requests periodic scans while the WiFi selection list is open due to a change with upstream NetworkManager's behavior, background animations are now updated when resuming from suspend, a reload option has been added to the GNOME Shell Extension Tool, and there have been numerous bug fixes and other changes.
