GTK+ For GNOME 3.20 Gets "Gadgets"
The latest feature to be added to the GTK+ tool-kit in the path towards GNOME 3.20 is a new concept called Gadgets.
Gadgets as explained by GNOME developer Ben Otte is, "A gadget is halfway between a widget and a CSS node. It's supposed to provide the minimum convenicence around CSS nodes until we've figured out how to integrate them with widgets."
With the Gadgets support that was just committed to GTK+ Git, they've ported over many items to being gadgets including switch, box, image, entry, spinner, progressbar, separator, label, button, check button, radio button, headerbar, and much more. There's been more than 50 commits pushed as part of this gadgets landing.
This latest GTK+ Gadgets work will be found in the upcoming GTK+ 3.19.5 release.
