Here's How You Can Get A Lifetime Phoronix Premium Subscription
Here's a way that you can be part of the select few Phoronix readers who are proud Phoronix Premium lifetime members... Particularly if you will be at Oktoberfest/Wiesn 2015 or traveling to/from Germany in the next few weeks.
As most longtime Phoronix readers know, I love Oktoberfest and, well, mainly anything Bavarian for that matter, especially their excellent beers. There used to be the annual Phoronix Oktoberfest trip to Munich and was the one time per year where I spent more hours in a day not working than working, compared to my usual 80~100+ (these days, back up to 100+) hour work weeks. Still, taking care of Phoronix work a few hours each day (and writing of the daily Linux / open-source news) before going to the wiesn, but much less than any other day of the year or any other "holiday" in the US.
It was the most relaxing time of the year and great for recharging while also meeting up with Phoronix readers visiting Oktoberfest, etc. Unfortunately, this pilgrimage hasn't happened in two years now due to a cut in advertising revenue (ad blocking), etc.
In longing to drink another Augustiner Oktoberfest beer (that sadly isn't imported to the US) and going through Oktoberfest withdrawals (a.k.a. work burnout / exhaustion), if anyone from the US is traveling to Munich in the next few weeks (or elsewhere in Bavaria) and would be so kind to pickup at least two bottles and send it over when returning to the US, that would be the utmost appreciated. Or if you're able to get the beer any other way; even if it's not Augustiner festbier but the Augustiner Helles, that is nice to with not being able to get it in America and not having it in two years either. Sadly, I don't think mailing beer from Germany to the US is legal (edit: looks like it might be legal shipping into US if using FedEx/UPS/DHL rather than the normal post, but not sure of specifics).
If any Phoronix readers are able to come through with this mission, I would be forever grateful and would also be willing to award the rare status of Phoronix Premium lifetime subscriptions -- a $36+ a year value. Feel free to contact me if you're able to help out or have any ideas. Thanks!
If you won't be going to the wiesn but still wish to support all of the Linux testing work carried out at Phoronix by your's truly, you can always buy a Phoronix Premium subscription or consider a tip.
