Wine 2.0-rc1 Arrives, Prepares For Wine 2.0
The first release candidate for Wine 2.0 is now available and marks the start of the code freeze ahead of this next stable Wine release.
The last of the changes that landed for Wine 2.0-rc1 ahead of the code freeze includes a bug-fix update to Mono, support for IDN name resolution, more Shader Model 5 operations, fixes for regression tests, and various bug fixes.
There are some D3D11 related commits in Wine 2.0-rc1, but it doesn't appear to be anything usable for this Wine 2.0 milestone. The Direct3D Command Stream Multi-Threading (D3D CSMT) work for boosting the performance of Wine Direct3D games also didn't land in time for Wine 2.0.
Wine 2.0 will be the first release under the annual, time-based release cycle. More release candidates of Wine 2.0 are coming while it will officially be out later this month or in January.
