Examination:

While we have seen a multitude of memory manufacturers embracing new heatspreaders, Super Talent continues to use a basic design. On both sides of the PCB is a simple aluminum spreader covering all of the ICs. On one of the sides, is a screen-printed Super Talent logo, as well as a sticker containing the part number: T800UX2GC4. The Super Talent T800UX2GC4 memory is designed for DDR2-800 operation with timings of 4-4-3-8. One of the items that Super Talent fails to mention in any of its documentation is its ideal operating voltage.

After our internal testing had wrapped up, we proceeded to remove the Super Talent heatspreaders, and might we say it was quite a sticky situation. While many memory manufacturers use thermal tape, or some light adhesive mixed with a thermal compound, and in some rare instances nothing at all, Super Talent chose to take a far different approach. Binding the aluminum heatspreaders to the RAM ICs was more along the lines of glue. The texture of this adhesive was similar to the feel of polyurethane spray foam insulation, except incredibly sticky. With that said, the RAM ICs easily went with the heatspreaders upon their removal. Thus, we would not recommend anyone remove their Super Talent heatspreaders as it will certainly void your warranty, and more than likely destroy the memory. Anyhow, the PCB used by the Super Talent T800UX2GC4 is Brain Power's E186014 B62URCE. The FBGA memory ICs used by the DDR2-800 memory is Micron's D9GKX.
