Creative Ways To Open Beer With Computer Hardware

Using a motherboard for opening a bottle is not new to us. In fact, we did it over a year ago and had posted it in the Phoronix Forums. At that time we had used the LGA-775 socket on a micro ATX motherboard to pop the cap. This time we had used an Intel LGA-775 motherboard again but this time we had done it slightly different. Since it wasn't too easy controlling the ATX motherboard (as opposed to the previous micro ATX), we ended up using the LGA-775's retention mechanism. In the process of forcing the cap off, beer had spewed over the socket itself and the retention frame broke off at the hinge. However, the Intel CPU retention frame and the motherboard's I/O ports had worked to successfully remove the cap. It only took a few minutes total.
