AMD Ryzen 9 7900X / Ryzen 9 7950X Benchmarks Show Impressive Zen 4 Linux Performance
With The GEGL imaging library used by The GIMP, GNOME, and other open-source software there was tight competition between Alder Lake and Zen 4, showing room still for more improvement on the AMD side especially with Raptor Lake likely to command a more significant lead in these imaging tests.
In some of the imaging tests like The GIMP and G'MIC, Zen 4 was only competing with the tested Alder Lake processors while in some of the more demanding scenarios like the RawTherapee RAW photography software was Zen 4 leading along with the Inkscape SVG editor.
For threaded imaging programs like GraphicsMagick that employ OpenMP, the AMD Ryzen 9 7900 series is looking great.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7900 series also picked up wins for the libjpeg-turbo and libraw imaging library benchmarks.
