Showing there's still a bit more to be done to the RadeonSI driver, the Radeon HD 6870 was the fastest GPU tested (using R600g Mesa 10.3-devel) with Xonotic using high quality settings.

With the updated user-space stack from the Oibaf PPA on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, AMD GPU LLVM back-end errors still prevented a number of the more demanding OpenGL games/benchmarks from running properly on the RadeonSI driver for the AMD GCN graphics processors. The Radeon HD 6950 was running well compared to the HD 6870 in these more demanding Linux OpenGL test cases.

Given the recent improvements to the open-source AMD Linux driver, it will be interesting to see how the OpenGL performance compares against the very latest AMD Catalyst Linux driver, which will be coming soon on Phoronix along with matching Nouveau vs. NVIDIA GeForce graphics benchmarks.
