CompuLab IPC3, Testing 10 Mini PCs / Small Form Factor Linux PCs
Our CompuLab IPC3 review sample with the Core i7 7500U processor arrived with 16GB of RAM and 256GB Micron SSD. The WiFi backed is using a Realtek b822 adapter.
By default the IPC3 arrived loaded with Linux Mint 18. It was working out-of-the-box and playing nicely with this Kabylake mini PC that's completely fanless.
For our benchmarking though we loaded up Ubuntu 17.10 x86_64 for comparison against various other SFF PCs / NUCs / Mac Mini / mini PC type hardware. Ubuntu 17.10 was playing nicely on this fanless rugged computer with six Gigabit Ethernet ports and more. The lone issue encountered was the Realtek b822 WiFi not working out of the box... But once pulling in the latest linux-firmware.git and installing the Linux 4.14 Git kernel, the Realtek 802.11ac WiFi was working flawlessly.
