Linux Workstation/Server Distribution Benchmarks For Winter 2016

Clear Linux came out ahead with the Perl language benchmarks.

For those running Caffe Googlenet or AlexNet on the CPU (though many of you using it are probably using the CUDA+cuDNN version...), Clear Linux offered substantially better performance than Debian/Ubuntu (the other distributions ran into dependency issues for building it out). Clear Linux has done extensive optimization and testing work around machine/deep learning workloads.

Likewise, Clear Linux took the cake again with SciKit-Learn.

The results basically speak for themselves and depending upon what workloads are relevant to your needs, you may draw your own conclusions. Also keep in mind that each Linux distribution was tested out-of-the-box and depending upon how much tweaking and customization you may do to your operating system, you may encounter different results. But overall Intel's Clear Linux with its optimized defaults tended to win the most tests for this server/workstation oriented comparison on the Core i7 6800K.
