15-Way NVIDIA/AMD OpenCL GPU Linux Benchmarks Of Ethereum Ethminer
Here's a look at AC system power consumption during the benchmarking process.
On a performance-per-Watt basis, the NVIDIA Pascal cards come out ahead of AMD Polaris/Fury, at least the GTX 1060, GTX 1070, and GTX 1080 Ti. It will be interesting to see how Vega does for Ethminer.
Lastly, here are the Phoronix Test Suite recorded GPU temperatures during the Ethminer benchmarking process on each of the tested cards.
Overall, like under Windows, AMD does well for Ethereum mining although on Linux you must be using the AMDGPU-PRO driver stack or ROCm, which is now open-source but all of the necessary components aren't yet mainlined so the setup is a bit of a pain unless you are on a supported distribution where they have packages available. But hopefully in the months ahead the ROCm OpenCL stack will get cleaned-up for being more mainline friendly.
