Intel Sapphire Rapids Performance With Google Cloud Compute Engine C3

There was terrific uplift from these existing Google Cloud instances to the new Sapphire Rapids C3 VMs. While the same vCPU count, keep in mind that it's from Cascade Lake to Sapphire Rapids with Ice Lake coming in between from a hardware generation perspective, which has seen only limited deployments in Google Cloud for the higher vCPU instance sizes.

Across the many different benchmarks carried out, the c3-highcpu-8 virtual machine was offering much greater value than the other tested types.

In any event, these are some impressive gains over the course of two generations from Cascade Lake to Sapphire Rapids -- and not even factoring in accelerators and other possibilities with these latest Xeon Scalable processors.
