Linux Full Disk Encryption Performance For The AMD Ryzen 7 PRO / HP Dev One
First up are a few synthetic Linux I/O benchmarks.
With the widely-used LevelDB, there was a measurable difference in some but not all of the I/O tests. The LevelDB key-value store is used by Google Chrome and a range of other software.
Similarly, with a simple SQLite write benchmark, there was noticeable overhead when making use of the full-disk encryption.
Under the FIO benchmarks was also a measurable difference from the full disk encryption for this I/O benchmark.
With the FIO benchmarks using full disk encryption did lead to slightly higher power consumption.
But let's move on to some more real-world focused workloads.
