Intel SSD 760p 256GB NVMe SSD For $99 USD On Linux

The drives weren't the bottleneck when it came to the time needed to build the entire GNU Compiler Collection except for the HDD and bottom-end ADATA SU700, but this real-world test was done in order to look at the NVMe M.2 SSD temperatures under this workload.

The 760p NMVe drive (SSDPEKKW256G8) had an average temp of about 40C during this process and a peak of 48C.

The 760p was just shy of 30% faster than the 600p SSD for the BlogBench write test.

With random reads via FIO, the 256GB 760p came in at 117k IOPS as a big improvement over the 600p SSD but not nearly as competitive as the Optane 900p or Samsung 950 PRO.

While with random writes it was doing good as well in this Linux synthetic I/O benchmark.
