Upgrading Linux 5.15 LTS To Linux 6.1 Can Yield Additional Performance For AMD EPYC "Milan" Servers
The ClickHouse OLAP data management system was enjoying some nice gains when moving from Linux 5.15 LTS to the presumed next LTS kernel.
With AMD EPYC 7003 "Milan" processors having debuted in early 2021, for many workloads Linux 5.15 LTS is already quite mature for these high performance server processors.
Or in other cases, very slight gains with subsequent kernel releases.
