Facebook's RocksDB has enjoyed some nice improvements on the newer kernels.

Overall the AMD EPYC 7773X 2P performance continued moving in the right direction with the newer Linux 6.1 kernel which is expected to be the 2022 LTS kernel release.

When taking the geometric mean of more than 70 benchmarks run across the four latest LTS kernel series, Linux 6.1 overall provided a nice additional lift over the already great shape of Linux 5.15 LTS for AMD EPYC Milan(X) processors. Overall was around a 5% uplift moving from the current Linux 5.15 LTS kernel release to moving with Linux 6.1. There are also further gains possible if enabling the new Multi-Gen LRU (MGLRU) functionality and other new kernel features not yet enabled by default.

Overall Linux 6.1 is looking to be very good for serving as this year's Long Term Support kernel. Stay tuned for more Linux 6.1 benchmarks on additional hardware at Phoronix soon.
