Portal will scale to several hundred frames per second while of the many GPUs tested all of them were delivering playable frame-rates for Portal at 1920 x 1080 aside from the GeForce GT 520 and GT 610. The AMD Radeon R9 290 Linux performance on Catalyst 14.6 Beta was coming in around the speed of the GeForce GTX TITAN.

With Team Fortress 2, the frame-rates were again being limited by the processor but again just worth pointing out the NVIDIA hardware was hitting a higher frame-rate than the AMD hardware on Catalyst, likely due to lower driver overhead. The GeForce 700 Kepler hardware was hitting over 210 FPS while the Radeon R9 290 and other newer AMD GPUs couldn't break 180 FPS.

If you wish to see how your own Linux system compares to the results in this article, it's simply a matter of installing the Phoronix Test Suite and then running phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1407298-KH-STEAMONLI12.
