The Embree performance on the EPYC Milan instances was decent while this is one of the workloads where EPYC Genoa will be significantly better. Intel's Embree can make extensive use of AVX-512 and from Genoa testing locally this open-source Intel software does very much perform very well on the EPYC 9004 series.

Open Image Denoise supports making use of AVX-512 as well while here the T2D instance with eight physical cores was able to take the top spot in this comparison.

The same goes for Intel's OpenVKL as another AVX-512 heavy software package.

The uvg266 open-source H.266 encoder was seeing much better performance on EPYC Milan than Xeon Sapphire Rapids with the current C3 VM tested.
