Shadow of Mordor Performance: Windows 10 vs. Ubuntu Linux

For being a native Linux game port from a reputable company (Feral Interactive Games), the performance of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor sadly isn't what I expected when testing on the NVIDIA graphics driver... The Windows 10 performance of this game tended to be twice as fast or higher; the peak frame-rates on Linux tended to be at or just lower than the average frame-rate on Windows. These graphs show there being some sort of bottleneck on Linux affecting the GTX 780 Ti / GTX 980 Ti / GTX TITAN X performance.

As the graphical quality increased, the Windows performance advantage didn't decrease but continued running much faster than Ubuntu 15.04 Linux with the stable NVIDIA proprietary graphics driver. At least the NVIDIA Linux driver is able to run this game without frightening issues compared to the AMD Catalyst driver.

Hopefully Feral Interactive Games will be able to improve the performance of this game in forthcoming updates.
