But with the memory overclocking on AMDGPU with the Linux 4.11 kernel was less off. When trying to overclock the memory frequency by any amount, I would end up getting lower performance. Here's a quick look when trying a 5% GPU overclock without memory adjustments, 5% OC on the GPU core and 5% on the memory, 6% overclock on the GPU, and then a 6% overclock on the GPU with a 10% overclock on the memory:

I didn't encounter any instabilities or rendering artifacts, but the performance benchmarks were running much slower. When checking out dmesg after writing to pp_mclk_od, there would be a PowerPlay message about "failed to send message 18a ret is 255" messages. I haven't tried out AMDGPU overclocking with any other cards recently so off hand do not know if this is a RX 580 specific problem or affecting all PowerPlay memory clock OverDrive adjustments with Linux 4.11.
