When looking at the imaging workloads that are a mix of single and multi-threaded tests including Graphics-Mgick, Inkscape, GMIC, LibRAW, WebP, RawTherapee, libjpeg-turbo tjbench, GIMP, Montage, GEGL, and AVIFENC, the Core i9 10900K led over the Ryzen 9 3900 series... But now with the Ryzen 9 5900 series that is no longer the case. The Ryzen 9 5900X was 13% faster than the Core i9 10900K and the Ryzen 9 3950X to 5950X yielded 17% uplift.

The Java benchmarks of Sunflow and DaCapo Bench also now panned in favor of AMD with Zen 3. From the 3900 series to 5900 series was around 20% faster performance with OpenJDK 11 for these benchmarks and put the new CPUs well ahead of the 10900K.

Machine learning tests included MNN, NCNN, Caffe, Numpy, DeepSpeech, RNNoise, MLPack, Numenta-NAB, TensorFlow-Lite, oneDNN, OpenVINO, and PlaidML. Just another benchmark with around 20% uplift from Zen 2 to Zen 3 and putting the new Ryzen 9 5900 series much further ahead than the Core i9 10900K.

When looking at molecular dynamics workloads with NAMD, GROMACS, Dolfyn, CloverLeaf, and LAMMPS, Zen 3 just provided even greater slaughtering of Intel Comet Lake.

The optical character recognition (OCR) benchmarks of Tesseract and OCRMyPDF yielded better performance with these new CPUs where as previously the Core i9 10900K was ahead.

Even with Intel's own oneAPI software packages of Embree, oneDNN. Open Image Denoise, OpenVKL, and OpenVINO (and the Tungsten renderer that uses Embree), the Ryzen 9 5900X was 11% faster than the Core i9 10900K.
