The Threaded I/O Tester also exhibited some nice gains thanks to the SilverStone HDDBOOST.

PostMark was another HDDBOOST winner with a 79% improvement in speed.

AIO-Stress was faster by 31% when running with the paired SSD and HDD.

When simply measuring the time to unpack the Linux 2.6.32 kernel source-code from its .tar.bz2 package there was not a significant speed difference.

Unfortunately we only have the test results from the Western Digital SATA HDD and then with the SilverStone HDDBOOST when that same Western Digital HDD was paired with a 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD. We do not have results from SilverStone for the OCZ Vertex solid-state drive running standalone in this Intel Core i3 system to see how its performance compares to using the HDDBOOST. Regardless, as you can see, in some many areas that are bound by the disk performance there is a measurable improvement in performance. The HDDBOOST hardware product should also work regardless of operating system or configuration, but sadly, it is still not running well with our assortment of hardware. Anyone interested in purchasing a SilverStone HDDBOOST can find them for $50 USD at Amazon.
