On first glance, the TJ08-E looks much like the TJ08 predecessor, but upon closer examination, there are many alterations besides just the cooling upgrade. The case itself is still black with an aluminum front-panel and steel body, but on the front panel, there is now the 180mm-sized mesh cover concealing the Air Penetrator in-take fan. The external 3.5-inch drive bay has also been moved to the bottom of the case (previously it was immediately below the 5.25-inch drive bays) while the USB and audio ports have been moved above the intake fan. With a half-decade having passed since the original design, the USB ports are now USB 3.0 compliant rather than 2.0 with the original TJ08. Next to the audio and USB ports is the power and reset switches with the power and indicator LEDs.

From the rear of the chassis there is the standard PSU mount, four expansion slots, and room for a 120mm exhaust fan. While the 180mm intake fan is included, the 120mm exhaust fan is optional and does not come with a pre-installed fan. The TJ08-E is compatible with micro-ATX, mini-ITX, and DTX motherboards. The TJ08-E can handle up to a 180mm power supply unit, but a PSU measuring in at 160mm or less is recommended.

Upon opening the TJ08-E, there are a few more enhancements that are pleasant. The case's interior has an all-black finish, the 180mm front in-take fan filter is now easily removable for cleaning, there's a magnetic fan filter covering the power supply area at the top of the chassis, the 3.5-inch hard drive cage has been re-designed from the original model and supports up to four drives. For securing this micro-ATX chassis there is two Kensington lock slots.

The micro-ATX/ITX/DTX motherboard tray is removable and for easily handling of the CPU cooler the tray is cutout in the CPU socket area. At the bottom of the case is also a small support bar for the CPU cooler if you happen to be mounting a large cooler. The maximum height of the CPU cooler is 165mm.
