2D Performance Also Impacted By Unity On XMir
With the available QGears2 tests to stress Qt4 on this stack using X RENDER, the X.Org Server process was always faster than dealing with just Unity and XMir talking to Mir. Of course, Canonical does plan to have a native Mir back-end of Qt5, but there hasn't been any official work on an older Qt4 port, not to mention that for Ubuntu 13.10 they still plan to be relying upon Unity 7 + XMir for their desktop. It will not be until next year that Unity 8 with its native Qt 5 tooled desktop will be running Mir directly on the desktop.
The Render Bench performance was the same, but that's mostly doing off-screen rendering.
