Lastly, when running a bunch of X11 micro-benchmarks through x11perf, there were still slowdowns when having to deal with XMir but for these simple X tasks in not all tests is there much overhead.

While we see the amount of overhead when using Mir with the Intel Linux graphics driver, up next will be the results when using the Nouveau (NVIDIA) Gallium3D driver. Of course, we will continue benchmarking all of the drivers as Mir advances and begins to be optimized by Canonical developers as Ubuntu 13.10 approaches in October.
