Early OpenGL vs. Vulkan Linux Benchmarks With Talos Principle
To no surprise at all, the Vulkan performance is currently noticeably lower than the OpenGL renderer for this Croteam game on Linux. This is explained in more detail in my original Vulkan 1.0 article (see the Vulkan Gaming & Launch Title section) while under Windows the Vulkan renderer is reported as being a bit faster than the OpenGL renderer, considering the Windows driver differences. I'm not surprised by Vulkan being clear across the board slower at this stage and at least Croteam is committed to improving the performance and ensuring good Vulkan support for future titles.
More OpenGL vs. Vulkan benchmarks once the support matures and/or there are any other interesting Vulkan Linux driver changes by NVIDIA/AMD/Intel. I'll likely do the Linux vs. Windows Vulkan tests once there are more games available in a better state.
