Google posted a blog post a few minutes ago entitled "Chrome OS is here to stay" where they counter the rumors that ChromeOS would be folded into Android.

Last week was a report that Chrome OS and Android would combine in 2017 as a logical next step for Google's two Linux operating systems. However, the company has come out today to say that Chrome OS is staying put.

Google's Hiroshi Lockheimer wrote, "Over the last few days, there’s been some confusion about the future of Chrome OS and Chromebooks based on speculation that Chrome OS will be folded into Android. While we’ve been working on ways to bring together the best of both operating systems, there's no plan to phase out Chrome OS."

In today's post he then went on to talk about how well Chrome OS devices are doing in the market place and that more feature development is currently happening for Chrome OS. Hiroshi also commented that there would be "dozens" of new Chromebooks in 2016.
