Here's A Linux 4.4-rc2 Kernel For Easy Ubuntu Testing

UBUNTU
Last week I spun an early Linux 4.1-rc1+ kernel for Ubuntu testing with the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel PPA failing. With the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel PPA still down, here's a spin of Linux 4.4-rc2.

Linux 4.4-rc2 was released last night. With the daily kernel builds in the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel archive still failing, I've done another clean kernel build in Debian package format for my current testing right now. The Ubuntu kernel archive is still failing due to the Lustre driver build problem and the Ubuntu maintainers haven't yet bothered to temporarily disable the module to allow the kernel build to continue... My 4.4-rc2 kernel build is close to what's offered by mainline, albeit it succeeds as it disables the Lustre/LNET code.

I've been using this fresh kernel build for carrying out some SSD/file-system and open-source graphics benchmarks so far. If you want to try it out on your own to experience the new Linux 4.4 features, you can download linux-image-4.4.0-rc2-phoronix_4.4.0-rc2-phoronix-4_amd64.deb. Hopefully the Ubuntu daily kernel builds will get fixed up soon...
