Last week we were in on the conference call announcing Ubuntu shipping on phones from two vendors in 2014 along with talk of other new Ubuntu phone goals. Now with Mobile World Congress having kicked off in Barcelona, we have a look at the first Ubuntu Phone set to debut later this year from BQ.

BQ, a Spanish phone manufacturer, is one of the first launch partners for Ubuntu on phones along with Chinese-based Meizu. BQ is sharing off their wares this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and Canonical is also there talking up their phone ambitions and trying to generate interest among vendors, carriers, and other stakeholders.

The BQ Aquaris is the company's first Ubuntu phone while the first Chinese Ubuntu phone from Meizu is the MX3. Those curious to see what the BQ and Meizu smart-phones looks like, CNET has posted some photos from MWC of this Ubuntu Phone.
