Jolla Tablet Could Have Upgrades For MicroSDHC, Split Screen, 3.5G

Last week Jolla launched the Jolla Tablet with Sailfish OS 2.0 that's set to take the waters next year. The Jolla Tablet launched via crowd-funding and thus far it's been wildly successful. Given the success, Jolla has added some stretch goals to the campaign that ends in December.

The Jolla Tablet IndieGoGo campaign launched on 19 November with an end date of 9 December. The goal for this "world's first crowdsourced tablet" was a mere $380,000 USD while as of writing the raised amount stands at $1,303,279. Coming in at more than three times their original goal, Jolla is adding some stretch goals to entice more backers.

The first stretch goal comes in at $1.5 million dollars with upgrading the Jolla Tablet to support MicroSDHC cards up to 128GB in size compared to right now the support being limited to 32GB cards that complement the 32GB of onboard storage.

The second goal is at $1.75 million and is adding split-screen support to Sailfish OS for allowing two apps to run simultaneously.

The third and final goal for now is at the 2.5 million dollar mark. If the Jolla Tablet rakes in $2.5 million, they will support a 3.5G cellular data feature for a $30 tablet upgrade. Right now the Jolla Tablet is WiFi-only and this 3.5G cellular support will be initially limited to EU countries but other markets are being pursued.
