Version 0.8 of LXQt -- the Qt version of the open-source, lightweight LXDE desktop -- was released on Monday. Important to LXQt 0.8 is full Qt5 compatibility while Qt4 support is being maintained too until the next release.

LXQt 0.8 was under development for almost half a year and besides the full Qt5 compatibility they are also planning to use the KDE Frameworks 5 libraries to replace some of their own "sub-par" libraries. LXQt 0.8 also introduces a new lxqt-admin component for offering basic administrative tools, new themes, improved support for multiple displays, RGBA transparent support when compositing, lxqt-config-monitor has replaced lxqt-config-randr, improvements to PCManFM-Qt, LXQt panel improvements, support for Compton, and lots of performance improvements and bug-fixes.
